How is our tax relief law firm different?

Table of Contents

What sets our tax relief law firm apart from other tax law firms? The Tax Law Offices of David Klasing is staffed with licensed CPAs and attorneys that are regulated by the State Bar of California and the California Board of Accountancy.  Unfortunately, many tax relief law firms are not regulated by the State Bar of California or the California Board of Accountancy.  Therefore, they do not operate using the same standards of care that a law firm or CPA firm are required to use.  In fact, some national tax relief law firms have been charged with fraud for misleading their clients, such as, American Tax Relief, Tax Masters, and JK Harris.  In California alone, several tax relief firms have closed their doors for various reasons; American Tax Relief, Professional Tax Care, Associated Tax Relief, 411 Tax Relief, Progressive Tax, Power Tax Relief, Tax Incorporated, National Tax Solutions, United Tax Relief, Power Tax Care, etc.

When you hire a tax law firm to handle your tax matters, you hire the expertise and professionalism of a law firm that is regulated by the State Bar of California.  When you hire the Tax Law Offices of David Klasing, you have an attorney or CPA with a Master’s degree in tax handling your tax matters (or in the case of David W. Klasing, a combo Tax Attorney CPA with a Master’s Degree in Tax).  Unlike, many tax relief companies that may have attorneys and CPAs on staff, the licensed professional may or may not be working on your case.  In fact, many tax relief case workers do not have the education and/or expertise to handle a client’s case from start to finish.

Another issue many tax relief firms have, is the volume of cases that they have in their inventory.  A case worker can be assigned hundreds of cases at one time.  Usually, the case volume is so high that a case worker is unable to work all of their cases.  There is just not enough hours in a day.  Therefore, many of the cases are worked in order of urgency because the tax relief firms are not well staffed to handle the case volume.  As a result, case workers are often stressed and eventually burn out.  Thus, many tax relief firms have high turnover rates.

Furthermore, many tax relief law firms have sales personnel that may be referred to as “Tax Consultants” that do the initial consultation to determine the services and the flat fee of the engagement.  The sales representative may have a fee schedule or price sheet that he/she uses for pricing and promises may be made to the client upfront before the case is assigned to the resolution/operations department.  Since, sales representatives are paid by commission, their goal is to sell as much as possible in order to receive the highest pay.  However, this can create a problem when the case is transferred to operations and the services promised cannot be performed.  The case worker may return the case back to the sales department, but the case worker may get pressured to work the case so that the sales representative does not lose their commission.

At the Tax Law Offices of David Klasing, a potential client will meet with a licensed professional to discuss their tax matters.  David Klasing is licensed as an attorney and CPA and has the expertise and experience to determine the services to be provided.  Generally, a law firm, will not charge a flat fee, but charges on an hourly basis.  The retainer amount is deposited into a trust account until the services are earned.  Unlike the tax relief firms that charge a non-refundable flat fee regardless of the amount of work that was done on the case.

Tax relief firms want to streamline the process for every client from start to finish; from the fee structure all the way through final resolution.  Since the tax relief law firms take this approach, many case workers at these firms do not think outside-the-box as it is not encouraged to do so.  Case workers are encouraged to resolve cases quickly, and not to do anything extra unless the client agrees to pay for an additional service.  The slower the cases are worked, the higher the backlog and the harder it is to provide exceptional client care.

The Tax Law Offices of David Klasing treats every client with care and provides every client with individualized attention.  Although, it may be cheaper to retain the services of a tax relief firm, be wary because it may cost a taxpayer more than what he or she bargained for.
